They called it Etemenanki or the Ziggurat Babel, and it really was meant to be a stairway to heaven. According to Genesis, the Babylonians wanted to make a name for themselves by building a mighty city and a tower with its top in the heavens. Biblical stories have been a source of inspiration for writers and creators for millennia, and it is cool to possibly see that tradition continuing through such an interesting interpretation of a semi-obscure biblical legend. The Tower of Babel Was Real The Bible wasn’t lying the Babylonians really did make a tower whose top may reach unto heaven. ![]() But, each tale does have similar elements that seem to tie them together. It also supposedly occurred after the Great Flood and Noahs Ark event as depicted in the bible (See Part 1 of the series). Its an ancient construction project that is supposed to explain the existence of different languages in the world, from a biblical perspective.
